Course Summary
How to develop mobile application on the growing Android platform? For developers and consumers alike, portable devices now form a bigger market than larger computing platforms. More mobile phones are being sold than desktops/notebooks/netbooks combined. And in the higher end market of smartphones, Android is not only the latest contender, but is set to become a major player backed by Google and a stream of hardware vendors including Asus, Dell, HTC, Lenovo, Motorola, Samsung, etc. Android is also well accepted by most of operators around the world. For example the Ophone and OMS platform by China Mobile is based on Android.
Objectives
This 1-day course will give you a concise overview on Android, as well as giving you a kickstart on application development on Android and related platforms. There will be copious hands-on exercises and opportunities for working out the entire Android software cycle, from development to deployment on an actual Android smartphone.

This course is designed for software developers interested in designing, creating, deploying, and testing applications for the Android™ mobile phone platform. It is valuable to both novices and gurus, who already have experience in developing mobile applications for other platforms.

Clifford Loo, with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical and Computing Engineering, has over 10 years’ experience in eveloping embedded systems, mobile applications and open source software, as well as delivering training courses on wireless technologies and mobile application development (including J2ME and Symbian OS).
