About WTIAChairman's Message

It is my greatest honor to be elected as Chairman of the Association. For the past decades, WTIA has demonstrated that it has accomplished its mission with high esteem. First, I would like to express my thanks to my colleagues for their past effort, and their continuous participation will be invaluable for the smooth operation of the Association.

Since early 21st century, wireless and mobile technology has become significant in the emerging world of digital convergence. Telecommunications has become one of the most important and fast-growing infrastructures that are very essential to the socio-economic well-being of any nation. The globalization of world economy has further amplified the importance of telecommunications to the economy. In particular, with the number of mobile users breaking 3.5 billion worldwide, mobile technology industry is definitely significant factor which every entrepreneur should not overlooked, as is reinforced by the “Economist” as the “next big thing”.

Mobile Technologies indeed bring significant impacts on the way we live and work. We are walking towards a “High Technology Economy”. For the coming years, there will be many opportunities but also challenges for the industry to again demonstrate its world class status. How to ride with the tide and grab the opportunities is the key to success in the future. WTIA will continue to foster a business environment conducive to collaboration and the deployment of e-commerce technologies, work closely with other associations in providing a platform for wireless-related business to benefit the industry development and growth, thus contribute for the prosperity of our members.

We will also continue our effort in creating Hong Kong as the hub of mobile and wireless development in Asia Pacific to attract investments and talents in the world. To achieve our goal, we will continue to collaborate with our trusted partners and various Government Bureaus to build up a better connection and networking for our profession.

Lastly, I would like to take this opportunity to thank for support of all our corporate and platinum members, our executive members, as well as individuals who foster the coming successful year for WTIA. I would also like to special thank the Hong Kong SAR Government in rendering their support to the industry.
